Best street markets in Hong Kong

Hong Kong has a treasure trove of discounted goods. Whether it’s cheap technology, copy handbags or even adult toys, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for at these popular markets.

Sham Shui Po

A sprawling network of streets and shops selling everything for craft projects, dressmaking and decorations. Head to Yu Chau Street for beads, buttons and ribbons; Tai Nan Street for leather goods; Ki Lung Street for beautiful fabrics and Fuk Wa Street for cheap decorations, costumes and children’s toys.

Temple Street Night Market

Temple Street continues to pull crowds with its attractive mix of bargain buys, jade accessories, antique furniture and adult-only items. Spread out over almost a kilometre between Jordan and Yau Ma Tei MTR stations, Hong Kong’s largest and liveliest night market comes to life after the sun goes down.

Pottinger Street

Usually frequented during Halloween, Christmas and during the Rugby Sevens, Pottinger Street has every costume under the sun. Shop for wigs, fake moustaches, glitter hairspray, feather boas and more for a reasonable price. Vintage watch collectors will also find Raymond Chung’s legendary watch repair booth here (Shop 2).

Prince Edward Flower Market

This outdoor market is overflowing with various plants, flowers, seeds and pots, all for great prices. Most of the shops open after 9:30am and generally stay open Monday through to Sunday. During the festive season many flock to this market to pick up Christmas trees and Poinsettias.

Bird Market

Also known as Yuen Po Bird Garden, the bird market features an array of different bird species along with beautiful bamboo cages, accessories and bird food.

Ladies Market

Situated in Mong Kok, Ladies Market stretches 1.2 kilometres. Every morning, stall owners set up shop with tarps, tables and wall-hanging displays of all kinds of items. From Hong Kong souvenirs, clothes and knock-off designer bags to wigs, portable speakers and toys, this spot is an eclectic mix of things you didn’t know you needed. 

Stanley Market

Known as a tourist favourite, Stanley Market has been struggling over the past few years. With a network of small streets the street market has something for everyone with clothes, trinkets, souvenirs, toys and high-tech gadgets. If you’re on the hunt for some artwork to display in your home, the market has an array of stores selling canvas paintings and prints. 

Goldfish Market

Even if you’re not in the market for an aquatic pet, this quirky Mong Kok street market is worth a browse. All kinds of species and colour of goldfish are displayed in plastic bags and tanks, offering some fantastic photo opportunities and a cheap pet.

This covered market in Jordan has more than 400 stalls sells all grades and colours of jade, pearls and semi-precious stones. From jewellery to ordainments this market is great for inexpensive gifts.

Wan Chai Computer Centre 

With numerous stalls filled with every gadget and gizmo you will ever need, the Wan Chai Computer Centre is a one-stop-shop. Staffed by handy tech guys, you can get your phone, laptop, camera or hard drive fixed in a matter of a few hours.
