The Hong Kong Club
The Hong Kong Club was established in 1846. It originally included government officials and was referred to simply as “The Club”.
The Hong Kong Club was set up as an exclusive gentlemen’s club by British merchants and civil servants. Its members were and are to this day among the most influential people in the city. These include senior local businessmen as well as the traditional membership of government officials.
The current building was completed in 1984 and renovated in 2013. The club provides bars, restaurants, private dining rooms, banqueting facilities, an extensive library, a card room, two squash courts, a billiards room, a bowling alley and fitness centre, barber’s shop and race box.

Did you know: The origins of the club are to an extent somewhat “forgotten”. However, it is thought to have been established by eight hongs (heads of large trading houses in the Canton area) who needed a convenient meeting place. They first set up location on Queens Road Centralbefore moving to Jackson Road
