Run to the moon to support the F&B industry

Until December 31, the F&B Run Club wants to accumulatively run 384,400 kilometres, the distance from Earth to the moon. The initiative aims to promote wellbeing and mental health within the F&B industry. Raising money for two charities, participants can add their steps through the Strava app to reach the campaign’s goal.

Roger Chan, Metagroup chairman, hopes that the activation will bring some positivity to the community and help those who have been impacted the hardest.

“In these devastating times for the F&B industry, we want to bring some positivity to our community and help those who have been impacted the hardest,” Chan said.

“Running and other forms of physical activity have a direct impact on improving overall fitness and mental health, so we want to encourage people in the industry to embrace a more active lifestyle while channeling energy into a worthy cause – and have a good time along the way.”

As well as promoting an active lifestyle, there will be prizes and awards to be won throughout the year. Individuals can take part in any form of steps, whether it be hiking, running or walking on a treadmill.

A range of social media activations have been planned to help motivate the attendees throughout the span of the campaign.

PURE Group has also joined the rally as a wellness partner and is recruiting corporate sponsors that will donate $1 per kilometre to InspiringHK Sports Foundation and Lifewire Foundation. These two local charities give back to the community by promoting social inclusion, sports programs and medical care.

Joining the “run to the moon” are influential F&B professionals, such as Syed Asim Hussain of Black Sheep Restaurants, Manuel Palacio of Pirata Group and Agung Prabow of Penicillin. Whilst the campaign hopes to challenge its participants to run, it wants to encourage individuals to not compete against others but themselves.

To join the run, simply download Strava and request to join the F&B Run Club group. Strava and Instagram will be used to share schedules and help achieve goals.
