Cheung Do Kwan opens new branch in Southside
Calling all Taekwondo fans! Hong Kong’s leading Taekwondo school Cheung Do Kwan has a new branch in Wong Chuk Hang. Cheung Do Kwan now has four schools located in Shek Tong Tsui, Fortress Hill, Discovery Bay and Wong Chuk Hang. Regular classes are also held at clubs and schools across Hong Kong including The American Club, Aberdeen Marina Club, The Repulse Bay Club, Korean International School and Island School.
What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art developed around the 1940’s by various Korean Masters as a blend of Korean fighting styles with some influence from foreign martial arts, such as Karate. The term directly translates as “the way of the hand and foot”. The sport is characterized by the way kicks and punches are employed to defeat an opponent with emphasis on the physical training requiring strength, body coordination, free fighting techniques and skills. The main goal of learning Taekwondo is to achieve control over the mind as well as the body. Through the art of Taekwondo, students learn courtesy, perseverance, integrity, self-control and an indomitable spirit.

Founded in 1988 by Grandmaster Woo Jong Pill, Cheung Do Kwan has grown to become Hong Kong’s leading Taekwondo school. Grandmaster Woo is the current Hong Kong National Team Poomsae Coach. At Cheung Do Kwan, Grandmaster Woo oversees a diverse team of World Taekwondo Black Belt National Team Members, all are fluent in English and have international teaching experience. Wong Chuk Hang branch
The new location in Marina 8 is run by Headmaster Master Billy. The school is open seven days a week and offers a flexible programme for children aged from three years right through to adults. Group classes are divided into 3-5 years, 6-9 years, 9-13 years, teens and adults. Programmes offer flexibility and variety in order to keep students focused and engaged. Each lesson follows a structure which begins with respect by bowing, warming up, basic commands, and skill training, a minimum of two coaches are on hand to accommodate different level students. The Wong Chuk Hang branch offers a regular programme throughout term time with classes from 9am-7.30pm, holiday camps and private sessions are also available.
