Black Sheep announces Family Fund and Feeding Hong Kong partnership

Black Sheep Restaurants has officially announced the launch of its Family Fund and its first formal charity partnership. While the Family Fund has been around for years, the formalisation celebrates its internal mission and newly added external branch with the local NGO Feeding Hong Kong.

The Family Fund is a financial assistance programme which provides opportunities and peace of mind for the Black Sheep community. A portion of the hospitality group’s profits go towards the Family Fund each quarter. Over the past ten years, the programme has supported over 250 requests through grants and interest-free loans for the team, estimated at around HK$10 million.

Black Sheep’s recently-announced partnership with Feeding Hong Kong sees the group extend its charity commitments to the broader community, donating HK $3 million to Feeding Hong Kong and its mission over the coming two years.

For Founder Syed Asim Hussain, “Service has always been at the heart of who we are and what we do at Black Sheep and building the strong community that makes up our team is the result. We have always been supporting our team through the Family Fund. Still, as we move forward as a hospitality team, we understand that our community is not just those people in Black Sheep but the greater ecosystem that we are a part of.”

Gabrielle Kirstein is the founder of Feeding Hong Kong. She adds, “We are incredibly grateful to Black Sheep for their generous support of Feeding Hong Kong. From our first collaboration in 2020, their culture of care and commitment to the community has shone through in actions and words, and we’re incredibly excited about how we can work together in the coming two years to drive meaningful change.”

Since its formation in 2011, Feeding Hong Kong has rescued over 5,000 tonnes of food. The group currently works with 160 charity partners to distribute food to those in need across Hong Kong. In addition, feeding Hong Kong is always on the lookout for volunteers. To find out how you can help, visit feedinghk.org
