Beef & Liberty

With locations across Hong Kong and in Shanghai, Beef & Liberty offers some of the most creative burgers in town, all made from hormone-free, grass fed cows. Choose from its eleven burger options, including the classic Cheeseburger, the El Cabrón, The Notorious P.I.G and even a vegetarian Green Chile Cheese flavour made with Impossible meat. Not only does it tout a sustainable ethos with its vegetarian sister restaurant Leaves & Liberty, but it is also committed to giving back, often donating part of its revenue to organisations such as The Nature Conservancy and Hong Kong Cleanup.

Burger Circus

Perched on Hollywood Road in Central, Burger Circus is easy to spot with its brightly coloured interiors inspired by old-school American diners. This burger joint is conveniently located next to Hong Kong’s biggest partying district and stays open until 3am between Thursday and Sunday, drawing in crowds long after other restaurants have closed. Here, you can gorge on the classic American Cheeseburger or crank up the heat with the Spicy Chicken Burger, then wash it all down with an icy milkshake. Oh, and remember to snap a photo of the vintage decor for the Gram while you’re at it!

The Diplomat

Five Guys

Five Guys took the city by storm when it first opened, drawing long lines during peak hours for months on end. Hailing from Washington, DC in the US, this American institution is known for its made-to-order burgers, hot dogs and fries, plus free and unlimited peanuts while you wait for your order. We love that it offers child-sized versions of its burgers, so we can save room for its indulgent handspun vanilla milkshakes.

Honbo

Honbo blends right into stylish Starstreet Precinct with its photogenic white and blue exteriors. Instagrammers flock here for its decor, as well as its American-style burgers, which are made using its signature potato milk buns and fresh ingredients sourced from local farmers. As for what to order, its titular Honbo Burger is to die for, a concoction that includes two beef patties flown in from Wisconsin and two layers of thick, melting cheese. Are you drooling yet?

Main St. Deli

If you’re frustrated with McDonald’s burgers, which are becoming smaller and smaller over the years, then head over to The Langham Hong Kong for the meal of your life. At the hotel’s New York-style restaurant Main St. Deli, you’ll find a giant burger on offer – and by giant, we mean giant! The Monster Burger is aptly named for its 20oz premium black angus beef with ten toppings to choose from, served with salad and fries. Best shared between four people, you can even opt for the Monster Combo which includes four sinful but slurp-worthy milkshakes to take you straight to food heaven.

The Big Bite

Veering away from the American-style burger, The Big Bite is a Canadian burger joint and a North Point institution, having been around even before the burger bug hit Hong Kong. It has an overwhelmingly thorough menu featuring char-grilled burgers, hotdogs, ribs, steaks, buffalo wings and a range of craft beers, so there’s something to accommodate everyone. You’ll find the place packed on Tuesdays, its designated Wings Night, where it busts out fried chicken wings of varying spice levels at $3 apiece.

The Butcher’s Club Burger

This burger chain has made a name for itself, even earning mentions in the Michelin Guide for its juicy bacon cheeseburgers. Born out of The Butchers Club’s desire to practise nose-to-tail butchery, it takes its burgers seriously: dry-ageing its meat, mincing its patties to order in front of the customer and grilling them to a perfect medium. It has locations in Wan Chai, Quarry Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui, all serving high-quality burgers crafted from its signature dry-aged black angus beef from Australia.
