From traditional turkey to decadent desserts, these are the city’stastiest dining spots this holiday season

The Astor

The Astor in Kowloon’s bustling Jordan neighbourhood is hosting a Shimmering Christmas Buffet throughout December.

Taking centre stage will be traditional roast turkey, accompanied by a rich turkey gravy and tangy cranberry sauce. Alternative options include roast Australian M5 Wagyu ribeye, while sides run from Teriyaki brussels sprouts and maple-glazed chestnuts to roast carrots with hazelnuts and honey and creamed spinach.

The buffet also boasts a seasonal Raclette Station, the oozy cheese dish complemented with baked oysters. 

Piles of festive puddings include traditional chocolate yule log with layers of raspberry cream and pistachio, a choux tower, Christmas meringues, panettone, stollen, mince pies and mini Christmas cupcakes. And don’t miss the chocolate fondue or the show stopping Christmas Tree Strawberry Tower.

The Shimmering Christmas Buffet is available from December 1 to 31.

181 at Fortnum & Mason

Fortnum’s has been the self-acclaimed ‘home of Christmas’ for over 300 years. Set within Victoria Dockside’s pioneering cultural hub of K11 MUSEA, Fortnum & Mason Hong Kong is the brand’s shop and restaurant outside the UK.The Christmas Shop is brimming with festivities and delights that will keep your home glistening and glowing until Boxing Day. 

Upstairs, 181 at Fortnum & Mason is serving seasonal festive a la carte dishes including sharing mains such as 30-day aged rib of Kettyle farm beef, Dover sole a la mauniere and Kelly Bronze turkey with cranberry and apricot stuffing and an indulgent chocolate dome for dessert. Festive cocktails come in the form of the Yule Alexander Cocktail – a festive twist on the classic 1920s Brandy Alexander and the Palace Spritz Mocktail, inspired by Charles Dickens’ own effusive account of Fortnum’s on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Eve and Day, 181 at Fortnum & Mason will serve a four-course Christmas Tasting Menu with your pick of Christmas favourites.

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

Dine in style at Hong Kong’s swanky Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong hotel. The property is renowned for its fancy festivities and top turkey dinner.

In all, there are nine dining spaces, but head to the Michelin-starred Mandarin Grill + Bar for a traditional turkey feast to remember (please note children must be aged six and over to dine here). 

The hotel will also be hosting fun Christmas dining and activities throughout the month of December, including mulled wine and mince pies in the hotel lobby on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day between 5 and 7pm, and hot chestnuts at the main hotel entrance from December 21 to 23, also between 5 and 7pm. 

On Christmas Day there will be face painting available in the Connaught Room from 12 to 3pm, as well as a magician and balloon twisters on the mezzanine level and in the Connaught Room, also between midday and 3pm. Santa Claus will be paying the restaurant outlets a visit between midday and 10pm, and in the evening a Christmas Choir will take up residence on the lobby staircase.

Regal Airport Hotel

Regal Airport Hotel will be celebrating in style this year with a sumptuous festive buffet.  

Cafe Aficionado will be hosting the buffet lunches and dinners daily from December 1 to New Year’s day. Highlights include a Seafood on Ice extravaganza, with Boston lobster, snow crab leg, poached shrimp, golden whelks and green mussels. Appetisers run from salmon gravlax and foie gras mousse to Italian cold cuts, grilled vegetables, antipasto and cheeses and there’s also a Sashimi Counter.

The Carving Station includes roasted rib eye, roasted lamb rack (from Christmas Eve only) and Christmas turkey with all the trimmings.

There’s also an Asian Corner with Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian specialities and a Pizza Corner with Christmas tree-shaped pizzas which is sure to be a hit with kids. There’s also a crowd-pleasing waffle and pancake station along with other puds.

Festive activities, such as a Winter Flight Simulator experience for kids including ‘in-flight’ meal and goody bag with pilot uniform, teddy bear and simulator certificate, and a Christmas Market on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, are also scheduled at the hotel.

The Ritz-Carlton

Head over to Kowloon to soak up super views and a sensational lunch courtesy of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

The hotel’s Lounge & Bar on the 102nd floor will be serving a curated selection of seafood as part of its festive buffet, including whole Boston lobsters and Alaskan king crabs, freshly shucked oysters, plus sashimi, roast French chicken and other, more traditional, Christmas dishes.

Meanwhile, one-Michelin starred Tosca di Angelo will be conjuring up an Italian Christmas menu and Tin Lung Heen, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, will present a six-course Christmas Eve feast.

Ozone, the world’s highest rooftop bar, will be offering a Christmas Eve dinner buffet and Christmas and Boxing Day brunches.

Harbourside Grill

Enjoy Christmas lunch with water views at Harbourside Grill in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The restaurant is located at Ocean Terminal Extension Harbour City and enjoys a sweeping panorama over the harbour.

With French-trained executive chef Armand Sablon at the helm, Harbourside Grill’s festive menu is available on the evenings of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and for lunch on Christmas Day; diners can enjoy live jazz and Christmas music from 6.30pm onwards on both days. 

Menu highlights include oysters topped with Royal Cristal caviar and artichoke puree, homemade foie gras terrine, seared line-caught sea bass, chicken ‘confit leg en croute’, M5 wagyu sirloin and braised beef cheek. Finish the feast with an apple tarte tatin.

Alto Bar & Grill

Tuck into a glamorous Christmas menu from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day at Alto Bar & Grill.

While taking in the sparkling views over the harbour, guests can enjoy a glamorous five-course feast on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. 

Menu highlights include roast pumpkin soup, chicken liver parfait, Morecambe Bay oysters, a seafood platter and a golden syrup Christmas pudding.

A Christmas Buffet Brunch with unlimited hot options is available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with traditional roast British turkey, pan-roasted North Atlantic cod and Argentina tenderloin medallions.

An additional free-flow option includes bubbles, wines and beers.

Spiga

Head to Central to enjoy a five-course dinner menu at Spiga.

The Italian-influenced dining space will be serving a five-course dinner menu – as well as a five-course vegetarian option – on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Guests will be welcomed with an artisanal cold cuts platter, followed by a creamy Acquerello risotto with sea urchin sauce, chamomile and Katasuobushi bonito flakes. The main course is Barolo wine-braised Wagyu beef cheek with black truffle mash, while pud comprises traditional panforte cake with spiced sponge and served with orange ice cream.

A weekend buffet Italian brunch is also available from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day, with a wide selection of Italian specialties, such as premium cold cuts, salads, soups, seafood, a roast carving station and a dessert buffet.

Bouchon Bistro Francais

Special Christmas dining at this Soho favourite includes a Christmas Eve Dinner on December 24 and a Festive Week Brunch that runs from December 23 to Boxing Day.

Menu highlights on Christmas Eve include oysters topped with caviar, warming butternut soup and a warm Rocamadour goat cheese salad. Follow-up with filling mains, such as beef fillet served with dauphinoise potatoes and Madeira wine sauce, seared duck breast with asparagus and chestnut sauce and Bouchon’s signature bouillabaisse with lobster tail. Sweet treats include traditional yule log with vanilla ice cream, creme brulee with almond cookies and there’s also a French cheese platter.

The Festive Week Brunch includes Gallic favourites such as French oysters, French onion soup, Burgundy snails, steak frites and steak tartare. 

Bouchon will also be serving seasonal Raclette, with oozing raclette cheese, traditional boiled potatoes, cold cuts and warming glasses of home mulled wine, throughout December.

Morton’s The Steakhouse

Morton’s The Steakhouse at The Sheraton Hotel Hong Kong is celebrating the festive season with tempting Christmas dining options for both lunch and dinner.

Morton’s Festive Dinner is served on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and kicks-off with a selection of tempting appetisers including lobster ravioli and pan-seared foie gras with toasted brioche and apple compote. Entrees include Manhattan-cut New York strip, centre-cut ribeye, whole-baked Maine lobster and tomahawk ribeye for two. Finish with a dessert platter or Morton’s famous hot chocolate cake for two.

The Holiday Lunch Set is also available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; diners can enjoy lobster bisque, jumbo shrimp cocktail, centre-cut fillet mignon, Pacific salmon, New York strip, Chicken Christopher and seafood options. Finish with key lime pie or creme brulee.

The Murray

There’s heaps of dining options to make this a Christmas to remember at The Murray hotel this year. 

The Tai Pan and Garden Lounge will be hosting the Murray Christmas Super Brunch from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day, including a sumptuous spread of salads, cold cuts, seafood, BBQ options and a carving station serving roast organic turkey and honey bone-ham. 

The hotel’s Murray Lane dining space will be hosting a three-course set lunch on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day; enjoy foie gras with pumpkin and onion compote, turkey and bacon roll and seasonal puds.

Evening dining celebrations include Murray Christmas Buffet Dinner at The Tai Pan and Garden Lounge on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Expect fresh seafood, an assortment of cold cuts and cheeses, a live BBQ station and a carving trolley with roast turkey and prime roast beef.  

Upstairs, soak up city views at Popinjays and enjoy a celebratory six-course dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with scallops, Wagyu beef and Christmas sweet treats.

LPM Restaurant & Bar

Celebrate Christmas in Soho this year as French Riviera-inspired dining spot LPM Restaurant & Bar unveils a festive feast for December.

The Christmas Lunch Menu is available from December 1 and decadent menu highlights include red cabbage salad with hazelnut dressing, scrambled egg and black truffle, or foie gras terrine with toasted brioche.

Mains feature hearty meat and seafood options such as grilled Sagabuta pork – a speciality of southwestern France, duck confit with orange and endive, grilled sirloin with mustard sauce and grilled red bream. Seasonal pasta specialities are homemade rigatoni black truffle and risotto with mushroom and parmesan. 

Don’t miss out on the puddings; worth saving room for is a chocolate Itakuja flan with passion fruit and a vanilla cheesecake with a berry compote.

A special cocktail menu inspired by French artist and writer Jean Cocteau has been devised to complement the festive dishes. The cocktail menu celebrates the season’s tradition of sending greetings cards and is presented as a postcard, listing the curated list of four cocktails.

The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong

Head to sunny Southside for a Christmas dining experience to remember at The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel’s Lighthouse Cafe.

The dining spot will be hosting a Christmas Feast Buffet on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day with highlights include traditional oven-roasted turkey plus alternative menu options such as pork porchetta and live-carved whole sustainable yellowfin tuna. Follow with yummy festive puds such as Christmas yule log, ‘Winter Snowball’ and festive mince pies. The feast is available at both lunch and dinner times.

The hotel will also be laying on a fun range of Christmas craft workshops, including Christmas Snow Globe, Christmas Gingerbread House, Fullerton Christmas Card Writing, Light Clay Christmas Tree and DIY Christmas Bag. The workshops are available at set times each day from December 1 through to December 31.
