Milan-inspired Coffeelin opens in Fortress Hill

All-day Milanese coffee lounge and bar Coffeelin has opened on historic Oil Street in Fortress Hill.

Founded in Sai Ying Pun in 2018, Coffeelin specialises in Italian-style coffee, specifically from Milan in the north of Italy. The opening of this homegrown brand’s fourth venue marks the start of a year of expansion, with a fifth opening scheduled for later this year in LHT Tower in Central.

In Fortress Hill, the new space features an open bar and banquettes clustered around an open kitchen. Espressos are the order of the day and coffees are made using La Storica 1991, the secret signature blend from Torrefazione Il Griso on the outskirts of Milan. There is  also a carefully curated wine and cocktail menu and, in the kitchen, Italian chef Umberto D’Avino focuses on dishes inspired by his grandmother’s cooking with twists based on what he finds at Hong Kong’s local markets. Think sliced roast octopus tentacles, warm potato foam and smoked paprika, Cacciatora-style spring chicken, roast potatoes and watercress salad and homemade tagliolini pasta with butter and Mediterranean anchovies.
