Where to donate clothes in Hong Kong
Find a worthy home for your pre-loved items at one of theseAlthough Hong Kong isn’t awash with charity shops like some cities, there are around 200 clothing bins scattered around the city that accept second-hand clothes and accessories in good condition. Any unwanted fashion can find new homes via these charities and organisations who also welcome any monetary donations and volunteer efforts to donate clothes.

Crossroads Foundation
Crossroads has been collecting donated goods and redistributing them to those most in need in Hong Kong and beyond since 1995. It accepts all kinds of second-hand items in good condition – clothes, household goods, furniture, stationary and electrical appliances in working order are just some of the things that are most in demand. Fill out the online donation form and drop off at its centre in Tuen Mun. The NGO also runs an annual fundraising campaign.

Oxfam
All secondhand wearable clothing, books, handbags and small home appliances can be dropped off at Hong Kong’s only Oxfam shop in North Point. Proceeds go to various humanitarian projects around the world that support the charity’s mission of a world without poverty. Oxfam HK also needs volunteers to help staff the shop as well as for other activities including the famous Oxfam Trailwalker 100km race, which takes place every November.

Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has an excellent recycling programme, which welcomes both organisation and personal donations of clothing and goods. While some of the donated items go directly to people in need such as the homeless and elderly, the rest is distributed and sold at its Family Stores in Hong Kong and Macau. The net proceeds go to The Salvation Army for use across its invaluable community programmes. The charity accepts clothing (but not fur, underwear or towels), footwear, handbags and accessories, electrical home appliances including computers and monitors in working order, toys, stationery, books and copyrighted DVDs/VCDs/CDs. If you have a lot to donate (eg five or more large bags of clothing or heavy appliances), a pickup service can be arranged.

Vision First
Vision First is dedicated to improving the lives of refugees in Hong Kong. As well as needing volunteers for its daily running, it also accepts practical donations of blankets and bedding, winter clothes for men, women and children, baby products and accessories, toiletries, dry food, kitchen appliances, art supplies, SIM cards and $100 Octopus cards. Drop off at its office in Sai Ying Pun.
