Goodbye Kai Tak and Thank You Exhibition

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kai Tak Airport’s closure, Blue Lotus Gallery will present ‘Goodbye Kai Tak and Thank You’. The exhibition will feature photographs by Canadian photographer Greg Girard and Hong Kong photojournalist Birdy Chu, offering a unique perspective on the airport’s history and legacy. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday.

Wild About Summer at Hong Kong Disneyland 

Hong Kong Disneyland celebrates summer with the launch of its Wild About Summer extravaganza. In Adventureland, Mickey Mouse and Goofy are accompanied by Russell from Up, King Louie from The Jungle Book, Moana, and Stitch in the new “Adventure is Out There!” stage show. There is also a summer edition of the park’s popular “Follow Your Dreams” show at the Castle of Magical Dreams and a “Pixar Water Play Street Party!”. Single day entry tickets are priced at $639 for adults and $475 for children (aged 3-11).

Eve Run Club with Fiona Fang 

Bonding time doesn’t always have to be over happy hours. Starting from June 20, Eve Bliss will host a four-week run club, Eve Run Club with Fiona Fang every Tuesday evening. Join this sunset run along the harbour – unwind, connect, and feel great after. Tickets cost $180 per session.

Fit & Well – Moonlight Yoga

Enjoy an unforgettable evening of Partner Yoga and Relax & Restore Yoga. Conspiracy Chocolate Founders

Conspiracy Chocolate’s cacao-inspired dinner series

Homegrown chocolate brand Conspiracy Chocolate is hosting an intimate private kitchen dinner series on select evenings throughout July. The eight-course four-hand dinner, in collaboration with Chef Dennis Pang, features cacao in every course, and aims to shatter guest’s perception of chocolate.  An accompanying drinks pairing menu has been designed by Drew Chigorimbo, Chief Mixologist at Grand Hyatt and previously Roganic and J. Boroski. The dinner is priced from $1,400 for the dinner only; add $680 for alcohol pairing.

Le Méridien Hong Kong in Cyberport have announced that their second pool party this year will be held on June 17. MONO Sourdough Workshop

One MICHELIN-starred restaurant MONO will host a series of Masa Madre Mastery workshop every Thursday throughout July. Designed to teach participants the art of sourdough bread making and Latin American cuisine, the workshops include a cooking lesson on MONO’s sourdough bread, after which guests can sit down at the chef counter to enjoy the bread made, accompanied by a tasting of a classic Latin American dish and a glass of wine. Starting from July 13, the workshop series will be held every Thursday in July from 3-5pm and each session is priced at $1,280 per person.

You Tell Me Exhibition 

‘You Tell Me’ is a vibrant exploration of the relationships formed between shape and colour by artist Joho Toh which investigates the visual and emotional dynamics that reside within these foundational elements.

Sam and her Amazing Book of Dinosaurs

Hong Kong Ballet will kick off the International Arts Carnival 2023 with the world premiere of Sam and her Amazing Book of Dinosaurs which sees nine-year-old Sam move to a new neighbourhood in Hong Kong and face the daunting challenge of making new friends and starting over at a new school. This combination of groundbreaking arts technology and breathtaking ballet will take the audience on a magical journey through time to a wondrous world of dinosaurs. The performance is suitable for ages 3 and up and tickets are available at URBTIX priced from $180 up.

CoComelon Playground Fun

This summer, children can enjoy the world of JJ, his friends and family in this ultimate experience, which will include four fantastic inflatable play zones in a 5,000 square foot playground. Midsummer Flower Jar Workshop 

Guests are welcomed with botanical sodas at this floral workshop run by The Floristry. A brief ritual cleanses the space and a story sharing session leads the group into a floral practice during which they will create a Midsummer Majesty Flower Jar and learn about its floral folklore. The workshop concludes with a chance to relax amongst seasonal floral installations, take photos and connect with the flower-loving community. Tickets cost $650 per person.

Bags: Inside Out

Head to Pacific Place to check out this exhibition which highlights the style, function, design, and making of bags presented by Victoria and Albert Museum, London (V&A). Bags: Inside Out will feature items such as Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic Fendi ‘Baguette’ used in Sex and the City and Princess Diana’s ‘Lady Dior’ by Christian Dior. In addition there will be a range of events such as workshops and tours (sign up from 11am on June 13).

Han Market: A grand assembly of intangible cultural heritage crafts in summer

Temple Mall North’s first floor will host Hong Kong’s unique Han-Style Summer market from 18 to 19 July. This marketplace is a treasure trove of limited-edition shops managed by “Intangible Cultural Heritage Craft Masters”. Besides traditional hand-crafted items such as heritage Chinese ribbon flowers and handmade floral crowns, the market will also feature workshops on tea ceremonies and incense burning, two of the four arts of the Song Dynasty literati.

Classic traditional snacks, including Dragon’s Beard Candy, Tanghulu (Candied Hawthorn Stick), and glutinous rice balls, can be redeemed by shoppers at the market for free with their purchases. A free Hanfu try-on session will further immerse visitors in Hanfu culture.

The 33rd Hong Kong Book Fair 

Bookworms rejoice! Hong Kong’s biggest book fair will return to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 19-25 for its 33rd edition. This year’s theme focuses on Children’s and Young Adult Literature and, in addition to shopping for a range of literature, visitors can enjoy exhibitions and workshops. This year’s book fair will run alongside the HKTDC Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and HKTDC World of Snacks, offering visitors three times the enjoyment on a single ticket. Tickets cost $30 for adults and $10 for primary school children. Admission is free for children aged three and under and senior citizens aged 65 or above.

Vibrant Escape: An Ode to Summer

This group exhibition at WOAW Gallery offers fifteen artworks by eight multigenerational artists from around the world, including Imon Boy, Deborah Brown, Isabella K. Cancino, Alli Conrad, Marcela Flórido, Kurt Lightner, Charlie Roberts, and Kristian Touborg.

Peppa Pig Live! 

The global smash hit Peppa Pig is returning to Hong Kong with this 90-minute musical Peppa Pig Live! During the show, Mummy Pig prepares a special surprise for Peppa Pig, as she shares a lovely Family Photo Album that features a collection of precious photos. Expect surprises and snorts of laughter during this 90-minute show. Tickets priced from $280 and available here.

SPCA@Cyberport Arcade

Head to Cyberport to join in a series of activities organised by SPCA in partnership with Interval and MessyJam at the pet-friendly Cyberport Arcade. Events include the Socialisation For City Dogs by SPCA ($550) during which SPCA Senior Dog Trainer Sunny Tang will share his insights on dog training and offer advice on how to navigate busy cities with a dog. There will  also be the opportunity to learn how to make a one-of-a-kind dog tag and coaster during a Personalised Dog Tag & Coaster Workshop ($650). Both workshops will be followed by a dog-friendly brunch. During the afternoon there will also be a dog adoption workshop which is free to attend. Profits will go towards the medical and daily expenses of animals in need at the SPCA.

Madame Song: Pioneering Art and Fashion in China

M+ will host its second special exhibition, Madame Song: Pioneering Art and Fashion in China, which is centred around the life and times of Song Huai-Kuei (1937–2006), a legend in the spheres of Chinese art, film, music, and fashion from the 1980s to the 2000s. Tickets to the exhibition are priced at $140 for adults and available for online purchase from July 6.

Hope exhibition by Patricia Piccinini

This large-scale exhibition of the sculptures, paintings and moving image works by the renowned Australian artist Patricia Piccinini features more than 50 fascinatingly detailed and highly imaginative works across different media. HOPE offers visitors an engrossing, perplexing and deeply touching view of a fantastical imaginary world. $70 at the door; $60 if booked online. Exhibition is closed on Mondays.

Vital Signs

Tai Kwun, in association with Tetra Neon Exchange will present Vital Signs, a new exhibition that celebrates Hong Kong’s unique and distinctive visual identity through its iconic neon heritage. The exhibition invites contemporary artisans to follow in the footsteps of the pioneering neon masters, and pays tribute to the skill, craftsmanship, audacity, competitiveness, precision, and can-do mindset that define this vibrant art form. The exhibition is free to attend. 

Tai Kwun will also host a series of public programmes beginning on July 11, including a series of workshops, talks, screenings, and tours, designed to immerse Vital Signs visitors in the unique cultural heritage of Hong Kong’s neon industry.

Hong Kong Design Institute Emerging Design Talents 2023: Embrace”

Throughout the summer, Hong Kong Design Institute will host an annual Emerging Design Talents exhibition with the theme “Embrace”. The exhibition showcases HKDI graduates’ innovative design projects which incorporate traditional culture with innovative technology and emphasise the elements of “inclusion” and “acceptance”.
