A scenic 60km cycling track has opened in the New Territories
You can now bike all the way from Tuen Mun to Ma On ShanAnd just like that, biking season is upon us. For those two-wheel fanatics out there, there is a new cycling track to explore this autumn as a 60km bikeway between Tuen Mun and Ma On Shan opened to the public this week.
While sections of the New Territories biking route have already been in use before today, the newly opened 11km trail connecting Yuen Long with Sheung Shui marks the completion of the 60km cycling backbone.

The new section traverses various scenic spots including Kam Tin River in Yuen Long and Long Valley Wetland in Sheung Shui; as well as cultural attractions like Tai Fu Tai and Man Tin Cheung Park in San Tin. Ancillary facilities – such as rest stations, bicycle rental kiosks, tuck shops, first aid stations and toilets – are also available en route.

Taking around four hours to complete, the full 60km trail brings cyclists from eastern to western New Territories, passing through Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, Fan Ling, Tai Po, Sha Tin, Tai Mei Tuk and Ma On Shan.
What’s more, an additional 22km cycling track from Tsuen Wan to Tuen Mun will be open next year. Once up and running, biking enthusiasts can cruise the full 82km across New Territories via the two backbone sections.
