Meet the team
Tom Hilditch
Tom is an award-winning writer and editor who trained on Fleet Street and local newspapers. He has lived in Hong Kong since 1991. During SARS (2003) he created the I Love HK campaign. He founded Hong Kong Living in 2009 and is father to Harry.
Hilda Chan
Hilda graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Sociology and had previously worked at Apple Daily. She loves traveling and cooking. During the weekend, you’ll probably spot her at the park with her tiny dog Mochi.
Nicole Slater
Hong Kong born and bred, Nicole studied journalism at university in England, but her love for the city’s vibrant lifestyle brought her back. You will most likely find her sampling cocktails on a rooftop or hiking with her dogs in Sai Kung.
Elaine Li
Born and raised in Hong Kong. Elaine went to Australia for her higher education and graduated from UNSW. She is a foodie and enjoys having afternoon tea with friends, doing yoga and watching Netflix.
Gemma Shaw
Originally from the UK, Gemma has lived in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore – she loves HK the most. Outside of writing Gemma is a fully qualified yoga teacher. She loves to travel, try new foods and shop for fabrics in far flung places.
Amber Lai
As part of an international family, Amber grew up trying different cultures and cuisines. Whether it’s afternoon tea with her mum or yum cha with her dad, she’s always excited to try something new.
Paul Zimmerman
Paul is a Southern District Councillor of the Pok Fu Lam constituency and the CEO of Designing Hong Kong, a non-profit organization devoted to improving urban planning, design and livability of Hong Kong.
Vicky Lam
Vicky Lam is a graphic designer based in Hong Kong. She is a fanatic about typographic design in newspapers, books and magazines. On weekends, she loves going on hikes, taking photos of the city, shopping and hunting out the best coffee spots.
Pranali Gupta
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Pranali’s passion lies in experiencing all sides of this city. She loves to travel, soak in a good happy hour or boozy brunch and spend time with family and friends.
Debbie Ky
Born and raised in Sydney, Debbie relocated to Hong Kong in 2017. She graduated with a Master in Business Administration and previously worked in the tourism industry. She is passionate about health and wellness and spends her spare time practicing yoga, running, and exploring the great outdoors of Hong Kong.
Cheyelene Fontanilla
Cheyelene has loved growing up in Hong Kong, a city where there is never a shortage of interesting people with stories to tell. As someone who finds joy in new experiences, her favourite thing about Hong Kong is never knowing where you‘ll end up or who you’ll meet on any given day.
