New menus and foodie events in Hong Kong – July 2022

This July, Hong Kong is filled with new menus, food activities and events for you to enjoy some of the best gastronomy the city has to offer.

Clarence

Explore Clarence’s diverse world of wines during Somm Hour, a new wine flight experience featuring eight rotating wines at a special price of HK$1,490 every Thursday to Sunday (4pm to 6pm), available at both Clarence’s Raw & Wine Bar and The Lounge. Curated by Head Sommelier Zsolt Menku, who brings more than a decade of wine experience gained from Michelin-starred restaurants in London and Hong Kong, the tasting package will feature three tasting glasses of white and three glasses of red, finishing on a blind tasting of a mystery wine from each section. Thursdays in particular, are dedicated to wines from Burgundy, guests will have a chance to experience the different terroirs, vintages and flavours of the region, featuring wines such as Henri Germain Aligoté 2019, Jean Tardy Fixin 1er Cru « La Place » 2017, and Daniel Rion Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru « Les Beaux-Monts » 2015.

Ask for Alonzo

The Deadly Rabbits brings a taste of the Italian coast to Hong Kong this summer with Ask for Alonzo’s new summer tasting menu and spritz cocktails, launching at all Ask for Alonzo locations this July. For just HK$298, guests can enjoy a four-course dinner with a starter, pasta, a choice of main and a dessert, featuring fresh and umami filled dishes like Octopus Terrine with Celery Salad & Ceviche Dressing and Squid Ink Linguine from Venice. The meal ends on a dessert of Vanilla Gelato with strawberry and lemon confit, a crucial part of a true Italian summer.

Newly opened KIN Food Halls is introducing a weekly Family Brunch on Saturdays from 9 July 2022. Family Brunch at KIN features great food from KIN’s 45+ brands such as Yardbird, Honbo Deli, Richard Ekkebus, CHINO, Emmer and more, as well as an unlimited dessert and sweets train that offer a wide variety of delights from Essentia by Holger Deh, Tartes & Pop, EatDrinkMomo, and Sip Song. Welcoming families from 11.30am onwards, parents can register for a Do-It-Yourself Pizza workshop or a Wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) making session with their kids. Break away from the screens with colouring sheets for every little one, face painting and two rotational handicraft activities by the team at Just Face Painting & Crafts. Prices are HK$388 for adults and $188 for kids (aged 3-12). Free for children aged 3 and below.

Central’s favourite yakitori kid on the block, BENTORI, takes Central’s drinking and dining scene by storm with its one year anniversary party “Yakuza’s Dojo Den” – the Japanese restaurant & bar’s first ‘90s Yakuza-themed party with unlimited drinks (early bird HK$449, regular HK$499) and skewers (HK$300). The upbeat yakitori hideaway invites guests to enjoy the best of BENTORI, all to the soundtrack of the city’s finest hip hop tunes featuring DJ Seth Gutierrez from Dragon-I, Taz and Faye, with drinks by cocktail mastermind Manny of Ozu – exclusively on Saturday, 23 July 2022, from 4pm till late.
