Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

This is the first Park Hyatt property to open in Malaysia and promises to amp up the glamour factor in the country’s capital.

The swanky hotel crowns Merdeka 118, Asia Pacific’s tallest skyscraper, and is set over the top 17 floors of the 118-storey building. 

An impressive 252 rooms, including 27 suites, soak up views over the city, including the country’s most significant historic location, the UNESCO heritage listed Stadium Merdeka where Malaysia’s independence was declared in 1957.

The hotel is scheduled to open its doors in quarter three of this year. 


Janu Tokyo

Janu Tokyo is the first of 12 upcoming projects for hospitality brand Janu. Janu is a sibling brand of Aman and Janu Tokyo is its inaugural launch.

Janu Tokyo is located in Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills development and offers 122 rooms and suites. 

The hotel’s interior has been designed by award-winning architect Jean-Michel Gathy and blends Asian-inspired elements with modern European accents. 

Facilities include a 4,000sqm state-of-the-art wellness centre, two private spa houses and eight dining spaces.

The property is slated to open in March.


Soneva Secret, Maldives

This brand new resort opens in Haa Dhaalu, the Maldives’ most remote atoll, later this winter.

Soneva is an established luxury hospitality operator in the Maldives (resort credits include Soneva Jani and Soneva Fushi, as well as the Thai-based Soneva Kiri resort). 

This new opening is described as ‘ultra-bespoke’, with just 14 beach and overwater villas including lagoon Crusoe Villas which are accessible only by boat and Castaway, the Maldives’ first floating villa. 

All villas have direct access to the beach or lagoon. Further attractions include bespoke experiences and personalised hospitality.

Soneva Secret is set to open in February.


Aman Nai Lert Bangkok

This new opening located in Nai Lert Park in central Bangkok is hospitality brand Aman’s first urban hotel and residential opening. It will offer 52 suites, 50 Aman residences and an exclusive Aman Club. The development (and park) is named after Nai Lert, a Thai developer in the 1800s who opened Bangkok’s first five-star hotel.

The 36-storey building houses the 52-suite hotel and 50 residences including apartments, and penthouses with private terraces.

‘Comprehensive amenities’ are promised and the property is conveniently located close to shopping malls, hospitals and international schools. 

An ultra-exclusive Aman Club, which debuted at Aman New York in 2022, will also be opening at Aman Nai Lert Bangkok.

No specific opening date has been confirmed, but Aman Nai Lert is slated to launch at some stage this year.


Ta’aktana, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Labuan Bajo

The lush Indonesian island of Flores and the fishing settlement of Labuan Bajo is the destination for Marriott’s latest Luxury Collection Resort & Spa launch. Ta’aktana is Marriott’s first foray into the Flores region.

Seventy luxuriously appointed suites and villas will cater to guests looking for a stay a little off the beaten track, but without compromising on luxury. Amenities include an olympic swimming pool, kids’ club and an overwater bar from which to enjoy the stunning sunsets.

Thoughtful collaborations with the local community promote environmental conservation and boost the local economy. 

The resort is aiming for a March opening.


Also look out for…

After a four-year hiatus, Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train, Southeast Asia is back. Returning to the rails in February, the train is launching two new seasonal journeys from Singapore and travelling through Malaysia. ‘Essence of Malaysia’ runs from November to February and ‘Wild Malaysia’ steams through from March to October. Expect restyled interiors, fine foods and plenty of culture; it’s hoped the Eastern & Oriental Express will take railway travel in Asia to new heights.
