Mandarin continues epic 60th anniversary celebrations with Michelin Guest Chef Series
Continuing Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s calendar of culinary adventures to mark its 60th anniversary, the hotel will host a series of internationally acclaimed Michelin Star chefs from sister properties worldwide between May and October.
Headlining the celebration is Chef Antonio Guida, from two Michelin-starred Italian restaurant Seta at Mandarin Oriental, Milan who has specially curated La Via Della Seta (The Silk Road) menu which will be available for a seven-course dinner from May 3-6 ($2,288 per person), and a five-course lunch from May 4-6 ($1,688 per person).
Excited for his visit to the city, Chef Guida is looking forward to visiting Hong Kong’s food markets and trying local culinary delights, from street food to Michelin-starred restaurants. “I know that the hotel’s Chinese restaurant – Man Wah retained its one-Michelin-star status just earlier in the week. I’m excited to try Chef’s Wong’s food. And if I have time, I’d like to explore some local eateries –I read about the pineapple bun and egg tarts, as well as indulge in some dim sum with the team,” he says.
The Michelin chef series will continue throughout the summer with two-Michelin-starred Chef Alain Roux of Le Normandie by Alain Roux from Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok in July and Chef Deiniol Pitchard of two starred Michelin Dinner by Heston Blumenthal of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London in September.
In addition, guests can enjoy an exclusive two-night consecutive stay in a Club Room or Suite with the FANtastic60 celebratory package from now until the end of October. Priced from $18,888 per night, the stay includes daily club benefits, F&B credit of $1,963 per person (in celebration of the hotel’s birth year), a 60-minute Oriental Essence spa treatment and round trip airport transfers.
Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has also launched its ‘Giving Back to Hong Kong’ philanthropic campaign in partnership with local charities including Food Angel, Make A Wish Foundation and HELP for Domestic Workers. Hotel staff have pledged a total of 21,900 hours (60 years x 365 days) in celebration of the 60th anniversary. The hotel will also offer 60 placements to Hong Kong students to launch their careers in the hospitality industry.
