Goldwell Kerasilk Control
Good for: Those with coarse, frizzy, unmanageable hair.
How it works: The keratin treatment penetrates your hair to reshape its structure, and when heat is applied, it smooths the cuticle so your hair appears glossy, shiny and healthy.
The result: Restored strength, smooth texture and added shine with a slightly straighter, flatter appearance. Occasionally those with colour-treated hair may notice a slight lifting of colour, causing a slight yellowing of blonde highlights. An experienced stylist will know how to minimize this effect. The treatment is also not recommended for those with straight, fine hair as when heat is applied during the process, the hair can break and become damaged.
How long it takes: Three hours
Lasts for: Four to six weeks
How much: Varies by salon. Glow spa & salon charges $2,800.
bhave smoothe XT
Good for: Getting glossy and healthy hair with more natural movement.
How it works: bhave uses keratin protein gently extracted from New Zealand’s sheep’s wool. The keratin penetrates your hair shaft and binds to damaged strands to support their internal structure and restore strength and elasticity to hair.
The result: Curls will be softened, waves will be smoothed and hair will be easier to manage. Depending on hair types, some may achieve a ‘wash-and-go’ success, but others may still need a little heat to achieve a totally tamed result.
How long it takes: Three hours
Lasts for: Up to five months
How much: Varies by salon. Love Hair charges $2,640 to $2,860.
Brazilian blowout
Good for: Taming the frizz and adding shine (not oil) to your hair.
How it works: The straightening treatment smooths your hair by bonding a liquid keratin formula to your hair. This will help to hydrate, protect and defrizz your strands.
The result: The treatment will most likely remove frizz whilst still holding your natural curl and wave.
How long it takes: Around one to two hours
Lasts for: Around three months
How much: Varies by salon. SOZO Hair Design charges $1,850 to $2,650.

How it works: Similar to a perm, the treatment involves a chemical solution being applied to the hair that breaks down the bonds that support the hair’s curls, or waves.
The result: Uber straight hair from root to tip.
How long it takes: Up to seven hours in the salon.
Lasts for: It’s permanent!
How much: Varies by salon. AUBE charges $1,000 to $1,500.
