Porkcentric is without a doubt a restaurant you’ll want to add to your list this season. NEZ Wine Bistro

NEZ Wine Bistro is the newest French restaurant in Central that takes its inspiration from the bistros of Paris and offers diners honest, refined French cuisine paired with a wine programme curated by leading Wine Director Victor Petiot. The food is as classic as a traditional French bistro can be, with dishes like beef tartare, Foie Gras “Rougié” Crème Brûlée, and Burgundy snails. Kicho

Kicho, the celebrated omakase-style Tori Kappo restaurant brand first launched in Tokyo’s Ebisu and Ginza districts, welcomes its soft opening in Manning House, Central. Helmed by Executive Chef Chikashi Yoshida, the culinary team at Kicho hails from Japan, offering diners a tempting array of chicken dishes. The multi-course omakase menu is priced at HK$1,000 per person, the meal includes soup, appetisers, creative yakitori skewers, seasonal vegetable dishes, rice or noodles, and dessert.

BluHouse

BluHouse is a buzzy and contemporary Italian restaurant at Rosewood Hong Kong that offers both casual and elevated approaches to Italian dining. Cantina

Aqua Restaurant Group launches Cantina this month, a chic new Italian restaurant in Tai Kwun, serving brunch, lunch and dinner. The menu is inspired by traditional recipes from Northern to Southern Italy, expect reinventive Italian classics such as potato gnocchi with almond and tomato siciliano pesto, squid ink spaghetti with cuttlefish and sea urchin, Sicilian red prawn carpaccio with lemon, pistachio and pomegranate with Oscietra caviar, and 450g Milanese Breaded veal cutlet. Every dish at Cantina is delivered with a generous portion of authentic Italian flair and fresh ingredients. Buon appetito!

Heimat

Located in LKF Tower, Heimat offers sophisticated German fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, serving light and modern produce-based cuisine. Chef Peter Find wows diners by adding his personal touch in the menus that brings an extraordinary connection between his German heritage and international high-end cuisine. The elaborate six-course tasting menu offers exquisitely prepared dishes, such as Koenigsberger Klopsesuch, a pork dumpling made from a mix of local Hong Kong Heritage Pork gherkins and capers that is nestled in a comforting creamy sauce, and Seebarsch, a perfectly crispy seared sea bass filet with an unexpected take on cabbage rolls alongside the flavors of Goulash introduced as a jus. Heimat is now open for dinner reservations and offers a six-course tasting menu  (HK$1280), also available in vegetarian or vegan and gluten-free options, as well as eventually an a la carte menu. Until the end of June five and six course White Asparagus menus are available (HK$1368 & HK$1488).

koi

koi is a new contemporary Japanese fusion restaurant in Tseung Kwan O. Helmed by chef Terufumi Mihara, koi aims to present its own interpretation of ‘luxe comfort food’ to Hong Kong diners. The restaurant’s menu boasts delicious Japanese bistro-style dishes, such as classic yakitori, grilled unagi and rolls, as well as a range of fresh salads, hearty soups and sandwiches.

Agora

Agora, the new exciting venture by 22 Ships’ Spanish Chef Antonio Oviedo and JIA Group, has opened its doors in Tai Kwun. Agora is a high-end Spanish restaurant that offers beautiful tasting menus with tempting plates that celebrate Spain’s rich culinary history with modern flair and highlight premium seasonal ingredients sourced from the greater area of Spain. The restaurant is currently open for dinner only at its opening phase.

KIN Food Halls

KIN is an exciting new food hall located at Taikoo Place’s Devon House. Decree by T (Central) & Decree Izakaya by T

The premium omakase restaurant Decree by T opens its new branch and sister restaurant Decree Izakaya by T on the 22/F and 23/F of FOCO, the new culinary hotspot located at Cochrane Street, Central. The omakase menu at Decree by T showcases seasonal ingredients through a series of inventive dishes, you’ll feast on Abalone Liver Noodle, Sea Cucumber Crystal Ball, Pan-fried Fish Fin with Chicken Bisque Espume, Fish Maw with Crab Soup, as well as 26-day Dry Aged Toro Sushi. For Decree Izakaya by T, its menu offers over 80 authentic Japanese dishes, including Yakitori, grilled seafood and drinking snacks, complemented by a selection of special cocktails, Japanese sakes, and craft beers.

Yakiniku USHIO

Hailing from Japan, Yakiniku USHIO is the latest addition to the local yakiniku scene, specialising in serving Shinmura Wagyu. The restaurant focuses on sourcing high quality meat and serves a wide range of parts of Wagyu beef, including cuts that are rarely seen in the market, such as Tougarashi (chuck tender), Kurimi (shoulder tri-tip) and Tomosankaku (knuckle tri-tip). Their tempting drinks selection features exclusive cask finished Japanese sake, Shochu, premium Japanese whisky, wine, draught beer, and more. Yakiniku USHIO is the place to be if you want to enjoy grilled meat with your friends or family, have a few drinks and unwind after a long day.

Bar Bleu

If you’re craving oysters and champagne, the newly opened French seafood bistro Bar Bleu in Soho will not disappoint. Led by former VEA sous-chef Ka Kei Wong, Bar Bleu offers mouthwatering plates of fresh seafood in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Highlight dishes include Fine de Claire oysters garnished with cucumber vinaigrette and watermelon granita, charred octopus served with nduja and ratte potato, and crab omelette soufflé with herring caviar. And for dessert, tuck into their freshly baked madeleines filled with lemon crème or Acarigua 70% dark chocolate tart served with sea salt ice cream and rye crumbles.

Mosu

The new Korean fine dining restaurant, Mosu Hong Kong, is the sister outpost of the two-Michelin-starred Mosu Seoul. The restaurant interior is modern with minimalist décor and showcases full picture windows with expansive views of Hong Kong’s skyline. The avant-garde dishes created by Executive Chef Sung Anh and his team are very original with plenty of surprises, fusing contemporary methods with Korean ingredients. Some highlights from the tasting menu include ‘White Sesame’ – a toasted white sesame and seaweed water tofu shaped like a Xiao Long Bao, filled with creamy Hokkaido sea urchin, and served with a light dashi sauce; ‘Abalone Tart’ – featuring charcoal-grilled abalone from Wando Island in Korea in a crispy “taco” shell made with yuba and shiso leaf; and ‘Dashima’ – dried kelp ice cream.

Clarence

Opening on the 25th floor of H Code, Clarence is a brand new modern French concept presented by Chef Olivier Elzer who is reinterpreting French cuisine with passion and inspiration he has taken during his 27 years of culinary journey. The restaurant is helmed by Chef Elzer’s protegé Chef Simon So, who has worked alongside him at Pierre, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and L’Envol for over a decade.

Top quality, seasonal produce is the focus here, their menu is a taste of modern France with a nod to the traditional with most of the dishes showcase refined versions of classic combinations – all show off Chef Elzer and his team’s expertise and brilliance. 

With four distinct dining areas – Raw & Wine Bar, Sommelier Room, Main Dining Room and The Lounge – Clarence offers a multitude of dining experiences for every taste and craving. If you’re after a light meal, the Raw & Wine Bar serves refreshing raw seafood preparations, enriched through citrus marination. Each dish is complemented with a unique wine pairing. For something completely different, try Yakifrenchy – which is a new concept that combines French classics on skewers cooked on the robata grill, presenting a curated selection of meat, fish, veggie, and cheese. Must-try items on the Yakifrenchy menu include Challans Duck Confit, Frogs Legs Pastis, Snails Burgundy, and Ratatouille. Paying homage to local dining culture where friends and family gather over shared plates, Clarence also offers a range of fish such as Dover Sole and Skate Wing cooked on the bone and served whole. Also, don’t forget to save room for dessert, the Croffle served with Isigny cream ice cream is simple but pretty special.

Maison Meiji

Maison Meiji combines three unique Meiji-era-inspired concepts into one space on the first floor of the revitalised heritage ‘Green House’ on Wan Chai’s Mallory Street, offering diners Western-inspired Japanese cuisine, specialist teas and coffees as well as exquisite cocktails. The Dining Room serves casual café fare, with dishes such as Japanese omelette rice, classic Mentaiko pasta and Wagyu steak with yuzu ponzu sauce. In the spacious Coffee & Tea Bar, you can find globally sourced single-origin drip coffees and premium Japanese teas, alongside a range of fusion confections and Japanese sweets. Their cocktail and music bar Kuromaru serves artisanal Shochu Cocktails in a relaxed lounge setting, perfect for a quiet rendezvous or catch-up with friends.

Handily located near SOGO in Causeway Bay, Lúa is a 6,000 square foot, two-storey modern Vietnamese restaurant. Lavishly decorated with colourful traditional paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling, hand-painted murals, colonial-style arches and neon lights, any instagram snap here will without a doubt see the likes rolling in. Beautifully presented classic and contemporary dishes on the menu include lemongrass pork slices with rice and omelette, pho with assorted beef cuts in soup, steamed rice rolls, freshly made vermicelli, and the highly popular bánh mì.

dean&david is a popular German health food brand launched by David Baumgartner in Munich in 2007 – the brand started as a small salad bar in the district of Schwabing and is now known beyond the borders of German-speaking countries. They have just opened their first location in Hong Kong, serving sumptuous salad bowls, sandwiches, curries and juices. Their dishes are all made fresh-to-order, you can rest assured your meals will taste great and feel great, as they are free from artificial colourings, preservatives, and flavour enhancers.

Yakitori Yamato

Hong Kong is embracing all things skewered and the recently opened Yakitori Yamato is certainly raising the bar. Opening as the renowned Osaka brand’s first overseas branch, Yakitori Yamato HK will be overseen by Chef Ogura Tadashi, who trained under esteemed chicken ‘shokunin’ (expert artisan) Chef Kawaguchi for a decade.

The elegant Japanese restaurant puts the spotlight on presenting yakitori in an upscale omakase style, their tasting menu (priced at $1,680 per person) serves a variety of appetisers and skewers, including double boiled chicken consommé and oyakodon, as well as chicken in all fashions, from arm and neck, to liver, wing and thigh. Here, they are focusing on skewers grilled over top-quality Japanese Kishu Binchotan that results in skewers that aren’t over-smoky.

Embla

Embla is a contemporary Nordic fine dining restaurant inspired by fresh and seasonal ingredients. Chef-founder Jim Löfdahl, who is the former Executive Chef of the Frantzén’s Kitchen, combines his extensive experience and his ability to turn food into art with endless imagination in the creation of Embla, the exquisitely presented dishes showcase inventive flavour combinations and the elevated simplicity of Nordic ingredients. Celeriac fondant with smoked tea aspic, fermented onion nage and sturgeon caviar is a highlight, as is the Lamb neck “72H” served with charred eggplant, semi dried tomatoes, goat cheese and pumpkin seed vinaigrette that isn’t to be missed.

Testina

ZS Hospitality Group, the company behind two-MICHELIN-starred Ying Jee Club and popular restaurants such as Hansik Goo, Whey, Miss Lee and more, debuts Testina, a new modern trattoria concept in collaboration with Trippa Milano, one of the most acclaimed and beloved restaurants in Italy. The menu at Testina is based on classic recipes rooted from generation to generation, renewed and refined with a unique style and a focus on nose-to-tail approach. Menu highlights include Homemade Tagliatelle with Duck Ragù, “Testina” Pig Head, Roasted Bone Marrow and Baccalà Mantecato.

Grand Majestic Sichuan

Black Sheep Restaurants is adding another powerhouse restaurant to its stable this month with the opening of its very first Sichuan restaurant. Grand Majestic Sichuan breaks the mould of conventional Chinese restaurants with its extravagant décor, sleek European-style service, and an enviable wine list to complement the fiery flavours on the plate. Featuring a menu developed by Head Chef, Robert Wong in collaboration with renowned Sichuan food expert Fuchsia Dunlop, must-try dishes include Bang Bang Ji (poached chicken in sesame sauce), Chongqing Laziji (firecracker chicken) and Shui Zhu Yu (red snapper in dried chilli broth).

MORA

MORA, the intimate 28-seater modern French Chinese restaurant founded by Chef Vicky Lau, together with co-founder Romain Herbreteau and Head Chef Percy Ho, is now open at the historic street of Upper Lascar Row, Sheung Wan. Stemming from Chef Vicky Lau’s French x Chinese cooking roots, MORA’s dishes are categorised by texture with recipes that highlight precious ingredients through the manipulation of soy. In their special opening menu, you’ll find dishes such as Homemade Soft Tofu with Ossetra Caviar, Stir-fried Soy Milk with Hokkaido Scallop and Sweet Potato Brûlée with Soy Milk Vanilla Ice Cream.

Orka Wellness Concept

Orka, meaning ‘energy’ in Swedish, is the newest wellness concept to open in the heart of Central. Promoting a five-dimensional experience, Orka incorporates visual, aroma, flavour, energy and social responsibility into every aspect of its concept. Their three-course Executive Set Lunch, priced at HK$168, is available daily from 12pm onwards, the menu provides both vegan and non-vegan options for starters and mains, take your pick from dishes such as the wagyu beef cheek and bone broth served alongside root vegetables and legumes; The Grounding Soup made with cauliflower and leek, puffed rice and leek oil; and Ora King salmon served with Jerusalem artichoke, sugar snap peas and shallots.

Woo Cheong Tea House

Following an extensive three-month renovation, Wan Chai’s century-old Woo Cheong Pawn Shop is now reopened as the first high-end Cantonese restaurant managed by Classified Group. Situated within the historic four-storey tenement building, Woo Cheong Tea House is split between two levels. The first floor serves premium teas, signature cocktails as well as exquisite dim sum items that are prepared fresh to order. Meanwhile, on the second floor, guests can enjoy meticulously crafted traditional Cantonese cuisine, featuring dishes such as Roasted Pork Belly, Deep-fried Crispy Baby Pigeon and Clay Pot Rice.

Rollie

As the latest concept from The DPT Group, Rollie is a hand-roll sushi bar with the focal point of open-style Temaki Sushi. Drawing inspiration from West-coast style Japanese cuisine, their menu features a variety of drinking snacks and classic American Japanese staples such as Dragon Roll and Rainbow Roll, as well as other Rollie specials. In collaboration with sister company Cookie Department, dessert comes in the form of a Matcha Basque Burnt Cheesecake to end things on a sweet note.

1111 ONES Restaurant & Lounge

Located at On Lan Street, 1111 ONES is an exciting new fine-dining restaurant helmed by Hong Kong raised Chef Will Leung. The restaurant is dedicated to providing a tranquil and beauteous environment with divine food, each dish has been intricately-designed and seasonal ingredients are championed on the menu – from sustainable seafood to premium hand-picked vegetables. There are two menus available: 6-courses at HK$1,288 and 8-courses at HK$1,588, both menus include unique creations where local Cantonese and Hong Kong classics like the egg waffle and birds nest are reimagined with an international twist.

Popular Vietnamese restaurant XUÂN has opened a second location in Gateway Arcade, Tsim Sha Tsui. Guests are sure to enjoy hearty plates like Grilled Three Yellow Chicken, Bun Bo Hue and signature dishes such as Beef Pho and Bahn Knot. Their drinks menu offers a range of non-alcoholic refreshments, alongside a variety of Vietnamese craft beers and select wines.

The Baker & The Bottleman

Acclaimed British chef Simon Rogan officially unveils his latest venture in Hong Kong: The Baker & The Bottleman, a modern bakery by day and natural wine bar by night. Staying true to Chef Rogan’s long-standing ethos of sustainability, the team works with the finest local suppliers and produces all food in-house from scratch, serving sweet and savoury freshly baked treats along with a cup of coffee or a casual glass of wine at the gourmet and lifestyle oasis of Lee Tung Avenue.
