Hebe Haven Yacht Club to host a free open day

This Sunday, head to Hebe Haven Yacht Club in the picturesque location in Pak Sha Wan for the Club’s Annual Open Day. An important event on HHYC’s calendar, the event will showcase its work as part of the celebrations for the Club’s 60ᵗʰ Anniversary, taking place later this year.

The Club welcomes everyone to join in this day of fun both on and off the water. The event is free-to-attend for members and non-members and includes water sports trials on dinghies, J/80s, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks and a cruise on Hebe One and Mohan. There will also be a car boot sale, BBQ, fun races, a bouncy castle and face-painting workshops.

Guests can experience HHYC’s sailing programmes by joining one of the free taster sessions. There’s the opportunity to learn the ropes and sail one of HHYC’s dinghies, take out a kayak or a stand-up paddle board under the watchful eye of the Club’s expert sailing instructors. One of the highlights is the opportunity to crew one of the Club’s six J/80 keelboats and experience working aboard a bigger boat as part of a team. There will also be the opportunity to join a taster session on Hansa 303 and a cruise out on MoHan, a 40-foot Solaris yacht donated to Sailability by the Scallywag Hong Kong Foundation.

For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there’s a mini carnival offering fun games, DIY workshops, stalls and a car boot sale. Visitors can drop by the Sailability Hong Kong booth to learn how dedicated volunteers help empower physically challenged athletes to pursue their dream of sailing. The Hebe Dragons team will be on hand to share their learning path towards excellence and explain how their sail training and racing have put them in the spotlight in both regional and international regattas.

The Hebe Haven Yacht Club takes place this Sunday, May 7, from 10 am to 5 pm. The event is free for all to attend. Hebe Haven Yacht Club, 10.5 Miles, Hiram’s Highway, Pak Sha Wan, Sai Kung. hhyc.org.hk
