Review: Weekend Champagne Brunch at Conrad Hong Kong

If there’s anything better than brunch, it’s a boozy buffet brunch

A short while ago, we headed to Conrad Hong Kong to find out about their signature weekend brunch. Their fabulous brunch room expands across the entire eighth floor of the hotel along with two 5-star restaurants, Nicholini’s and Brasserie on the Eighth located on both sides of the Pacific Bar for you to sit back and enjoy your favourite cocktail.

You must take in this airy, light atmosphere with high ceilings and a wide range of seating options. We chose a table by the window and it was well worth it! The view was spectacular and the entire floor spoke volumes about the hotel’s well-earned reputation for excellence.

We were amazed how lavish everything was from free-flowing Perrier-Jouët champagne to endless seafood choices. The buffet counters offered just about every international cuisine you could imagine, with lively interactive stations including the pasta kitchen, seafood market, a sushi counter, a live carving station, and a superb selection of Chinese food. The whole area was constantly bustling with endless activities much to our delight.

We were also offered a menu, in addition to the buffet, to order starters, main courses, side dishes, and desserts. Their choices showcase the professionalism and quality of their food made with imported ingredients from around the world.

Starters

To our surprise, their starter menu was a culinary delight with a list of hot and cold options. Fresh oysters, caviar, Eggs Benedict, and Greek yoghurt with strawberry compote have made it to the top of our list.

Seafood Market & Sushi Counter

If you love seafood, stop by the seafood market where you will find everything from Boston lobsters and prawns to snow crab legs and mussels. And for sushi lovers, you will discover an array of sushi and fresh sashimi at the sushi counter to satisfy your palate.

Mix And Shake Bar

The brunch also offers a large array of drinks besides free-flow champagne. The mixologists take the mix and shake bar very seriously believing “a brunch is not over until you’ve had enough drinks”. That’s why the bar is loaded with unlimited cocktails, draught beer, red and white wines, and just about everything else under the sun.

Pasta Kitchen & Golden Leaf Signatures

The pasta kitchen and the Chinese food station made us feel like we just stepped out into the streets of China. All food from the Chinese food station was prepared straight from the award-winning restaurant Golden Leaf and our very favourite dish from here was their signature Peking Duck Wrap.

Live Carving Station & Antipasti Counter

Main Courses

Fillet of Sole Meunière with Butter Sautéed Spinach – The best description for this dish is simple yet delicate. The Sole Meunière was slightly crisp from browning, the sauce was rich and decadent, and the lemon balanced all the flavours and kept the dish from feeling heavy.

Grilled Prawns with Pumpkin Purée Bisque Sauce – The prawns were cooked with an amazing blend of flavours, they were juicy and tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The sauce was so spectacular that we wanted to order another plate!

Dessert

By the time dessert came, we were pretty full but also wanted to sample the morsels. The dessert platter came with fruits and three kinds of desserts including Chocolate Dome topped with Passion Fruit, Tiramisu and Amaretti Lemon Tart, each special in their own way.

Summary

Conrad’s weekend brunch is a delightful retreat to indulge yourself with extravagant food, endless drinks, and a very relaxing atmosphere. The scenic views, attentive service and the nice selection of food choices made it an enjoyable experience for us.
